This is actually not the first time we’ve had mascot figures, but I think it’s definitely a huge improvement from the old mascot figures we’ve had (even if we haven’t seen colours yet) and they’re definitely bigger this time around!

Due to Massive Spam Attacks, User Registration at the Hetalia Archives has temporarily been disabled

I talked about doing this a few weeks back, but the spam has gotten so out of control that I was left with no other options. I’m hoping to replace this with an extension that will allow admins to register accounts for those that request them, but the process is complicated and I need a good chunk of time to sit down and figure it out. Time that I don’t have right now. UPDATE: Administrators still have the ability to create User Accounts. Should you like to register an account, please contact either me, Icelilly, or the Hetalia Archives Tumblr Account with your email (remember to format it as “johnsmith at yahoo dot com” otherwise Tumblr will eat it) and your desired username, and you will receive a confirmation email ASAP.

I took some screenshots of the “Recent Changes” page that catalogs all the changes made to the wiki. All of this is Spam being posted and Spam Accounts being registered. This is roughly half of the Spam we have gotten just today, February 6th, and the day is only half over. There is no mass delete button that will target this sort of thing, so me or Icelilly has to go through the logs every day and manually delete or revert ever case of spam and block every spam account one by one.

Anonymous (IP) editing is still open for now. While we have gotten some Spam from anonymous editors, it it nowhere near at the volume that registered accounts have posted them.

Some news that shouldn’t be overlooked with the release of the new episode:

So the Hetalia website just straight up gives the first episode of Hetalia: The Beautiful World the title “Each Battlefield” (Also he name of the chapter it adapted from Volume 4). (((This is significant because for the most part the episodes didn’t get names, and from my pov, suggests that instead of cherry-picking segments like the Axis Powers and World Series animes did, it will adapt whole chapters in one episode.)))

Also, there was an announcement on the versions of “Mawaru Chikyuu Rondo” that will be released with the DVDs. The order is as follows:

Volume 1: Romano and Japan
Volume 2: America and Russia
Volume 3: Germany and England
Volume 4: France and China

The track list for the Mawaru Chikyuu Rondo CD was recently announced. It includes, as expected, the song “Mawaru Chikyuu Rondo” (sung by Daisuke Namikawa (Italy)) and it’s Instrumental Version, as well as the insert song “Make a Wish to Santa♪” sung by Ai Orikasa (Sealand).

It is set to be released on February 27, 2013.

Gentosha VS hetarchive

Not a joke!

Today we received a cease and desist notice through our host server, through an agent, from Gentosha to remove from hetarchive all five of the printed volumes of Hetalia, which includes chapters 1-8 of Birz and the Birz vol 3 Thanks pages (the two pages I shamelessly spent $50 on, ahaha). We have 37 hours to comply.

I’m not personally particularly surprised or distraught over this. Of course there’s the general response of “what a shame”, since hetarchive helps make these things accessible to people all over the world where Hetalia is not (readily) available. But I suppose that is a naive response, being that, in general, the big bad legal world is full of “tough shit” responses and we’re just supposed to deal with it.

What this means for hetarchive…

We will comply and remove the printed volumes from the site. All other scanlations from Kitayume shall remain available. Comic Birz chapters past chapter 8 will remain available until printed in a book.

Let’s not let this upset us. This is a great fandom and we should be understanding how hosting the volume scanlations has the potential of hurting sales from the rights holders and thus can hurt the potential of new material being printed. We still have the material from Kitayume; we still have a beautiful new season of anime coming to us, so let’s relish in what we have and look forward to the good things to come.

I honestly doubt that these volumes will be completely unavailable even with removing them from hetarchive. So keep your heads up!

I’m actually kinda surprised it took them this long, but it’s still such a shame y’know? :(

I’m glad that most everything else will be staying up, though.

and before anybody gets made like DARN YOU GENTOSHA lemme just say that usually the way copyright works is that they *have* to send a cease and desist, otherwise they could risk losing their product all together. (and if not that, it could still hurt sales, so…)

OH WHAT’S THIS? WORK ON THE SITE?

With some wonderful help from Tarafishes I added a new part to the Deleted section in Scanlations. Basically we reconstructed some pages that are no longer accessible on Kitayume and had some broken images. A fair amount of the image files have been floating around online for a while, but here they are as originally presented. We filled in some translations as we could.

Okay, so the theme song for Hetalia: The Beautiful World is actually called Mawaru Chikyuu Rondo, not Kira☆Kira. losthitsu explained it better than I could so I screencapped her explanation and included it in this post (not pictured is me freaking out because nothing made sense and an excessive use of emoticons). Basically, the motif for this new season is “Kira☆Kira”, meaning everything is really gay sparkly and giving it a motif really emphasizes it’s “newness”.

In other news, since I guess I forgot to announce it on here because of the move, New Zealand has their own page on the wiki now.

Also, the episode list was redesigned and split up into separate season pages (Index · 1 · 2 · 3 · 4 · 5), including information on DVD releases.
